Live at the Centre, Scenic Rim, 2014
She’d thrown it out there like a line from a fishing reel
a piece of bait in the large hook waiting for that moment
A jerk a tug the surprised feeling when she would know it had been taken and
she could reel it in
Handle it, take it off the hook
Then the questions came
What lay at the end of the line?
What would she do with it now?
Throw it back, kill it, scale it, save the hook for another time
she was galloping furiously to the finish line
to get there as fast as she could
It had started and she wanted it to be over
Her time gone, never to return
The opportunity to explain herself lost forever
Like she had cut that line and it had floated away on the outgoing tide…
