Cell Art Space (Artist Run Initiative) is an exciting exhibition space in Cairns accessible 24/7 in a unique inner city location. Every week thousands of regional residents, national and international visitors view the space. Cell Art Space has a current team of six volunteer Co-Directors who coordinate exhibitions and events.
Cell Art Space has a growing reputation in Cairns and around the state including securing a recent Arts Queensland grant to fund a nine month From Summer to Spring exhibition program. Cell Art Space are passionate about supporting independent and emerging artists and artsworkers in Cairns to exhibit their work and gain industry experience and networks.

Mission
Cell Art Space was created to provide a low cost exhibition space for emerging and established artists and curators. It is also a valuable real-world learning experience for the artists and arts workers who co-direct and curate the exhibitions held.

Made possible by Major Sponsor Ergon Energy, Cell Art Space is an Artist Run Gallery situated at 109 Lake Street In Cairns. Running since 2003, we have strived to provide an affordable space for emerging and established local, interstate and international artists.
Cell Art Space has assisted individual artists, art groups, art collectives, indigenous artists and young emerging artists to showcase mixed media, installation, assemblage, sculpture, painting, photography, drawing, ceramic, printmaking, chalk art, illustration and performing arts.
Cell Art Space continues to run as a not-for-profit, volunteer artist run initiative.
