Cut Thumb
Cut Thumb ARI founded in early 2015 by Lucy Forsberg and Callum Mcgrath provides a location for contemporary experimental art practice in Brisbane. Our projects and exhibitions are aimed at artists in the early stages of their careers, fostering the development of new work with a strong focus on new media, video and installation. We support writers and artists in forging relationships that benefit the pair professionally. Current Cut Thumb projects take place in a West End garage space, providing the perfect opportunity for artists to work site specifically.
Since May 2015 our program has consisted of solo one-night shows that allow the artists to focus exclusively on the development and growth of their own practice. Cut Thumb endeavours to actively contribute to the critical dialogue within the Brisbane Artist-Run Initiative community and aims to strengthen discussion surrounding emerging experimental art. We are working hard to maintain the sustainability of Cut Thumb to continue to provide a platform for artists and art workers within the local and national sector. Cut Thumb is not-for-profit organisation that is completely self funded and does not receive any outside support or government funding at this stage.
