ARI REMIX 2011 to NOW – Stories so far… and so many more yet to be actively remembered, told and transmitted together….

Hello and thank you everyone who came along to the vibrant Headlands Revisited opening to share your stories and memories on Sunday 15 June 2025!! We are all feeling truly grateful for the love, care, friendship, REFLECTIONS and reunion! So MUCH JOY and collective rapture 🙂

You can add your story to the Headlands participatory timeline on the community memory wall over the coming two months before we close on August 26 2025.

Meanwhile please join us to hear from artists and community members linked to the exhibition, Headlands Revisited sharing readings and memories of Marshall Malouf and Headlands Chalet.

Please RSVP in the RAG link and come along if you have an untold story to share about your own lived experience of Marshall’s creative vision, among hundreds of activists, artists and artworkers and allies in the 1989 to 2015 time frame.
Marshall’s warm embrace for community extends well beyond this modest and introductory archival art initiative. If you would like to add your story to A Headlands Circle zine anthology access the complementary online public program link also included in the commentaries thread below. We employ DIY lo-fi art zines in both online and offline settings – cut copy paste webzines and photocopy zines- as types of artworks, community archives, and creative archival assemblages. The exhibition itself is zine-like in orientation.
A core aim of this small group exhibition process is to lead towards further active research by well funded mainstream, formal and traditional art and memory institutions who fail to represent the non-traditional or ephemeral creative practices and the diversity of queer experiences and sociality in localised settings in Queensland.
Importantly, this exhibition coincides with the 35th Anniversary of the decriminalisation of Homosexuality in Queensland. Homosexual activity between consenting adults was decriminalized in Queensland on January 19, 1991. This meant that consensual acts of homosexual sex were no longer considered criminal offenses.
