IN KIND: A Brisbane/Meanjin Art Swap Public · Hosted by Outer Space FRI, 10 APR 2020

Sally Molloy and Outer Space bring you, ‘IN KIND: A Brisbane/Meanjin Art Swap’.

‘IN KIND: A Brisbane/Meanjin Art Swap’ is a response to the chaos unfolding, a revolt against the disconnectedness thrust upon us. It’s as simple as it sounds: it’s an art swap. As a participant, all you have to do is offer a small work as a gift to another artist within the Brisbane/Meanjin art community, who will offer a gift in return. A big web of artists caring for artists.

This is a small opportunity to spread joy like margarine on white bread. It’s a moment of great collective generosity. An exchange, a performance, a gentle gesture by a community ready to adapt and carry on in strange and uncertain times. This way, amid the distance, disconnectedness, and doldrums there may also be tenuous tactility, material connections, and the warm nearness of another in their marks, traces, wonderings, decisions, mistakes, bum notes and glory.

If you are a Brisbane/Meanjin artist who would like to show care for the Brisbane/Meanjin art community, follow the link below. Register your interest before Friday 10th April, we’ll send you the details for your swap, and then all you need to be able to offer is to post a small work as a gift for a fellow Brisbane/Meanjin artist.
