In Residence
In Residence is an artist run initiative (ARI) and online publication based in Brisbane, Australia. Our aim is to showcase, discuss and promote emerging art in Brisbane. This city’s emerging artists are often overlooked, with the big galleries focusing on established artists and the commercial galleries often disregarding emerging experimental or cross-disciplinary work. In Residence aims to provide a platform for the diversity of emerging work that’s currently flourishing in the unique cultural and geographical context of our city. This platform will take the forms of an exhibition series and an online publication.
In 2016 In Residence will run an exhibition series featuring emerging Brisbane creatives in various disciplines. Held every two months, the exhibitions will take place in non-traditional settings – low-key residential properties around the city. With two exhibitions per theme, the series will see artists explore a diverse range of topics.
Parallel to the exhibition series is the online publication. This is a platform for writing about our exhibiting artists, as well as showcasing other emerging arts events, ARIs and practitioners in Brisbane.
