On Saturday 8 November, softwash returns to the riverbank and public parklands at the Tweed Regional Museum Learning Site on Bundjalung Country for ‘At the Water’s Edge’, an afternoon of live art, workshops and experimental performance for all. softwash At the Water’s Edge takes us outside to the wet spaces; a multispecies entanglement, a loosening of binary thought, a soaking, leaking, melting of our edges.
At the Water’s Edge is an artist-led gathering interested in building practices of interdependence. Tending to connections, between the socio-eco-political in devotion to the practices of listening, caring, queering, and decentralising.
Part live performance, part community picnic, this event is the final of three one-day-only celebrations of creative energy and community, hosted where the salty waters of Terranora and Cobaki Creeks converge.

At the Water’s Edge will share experimental contributions, made in response to the site from Norton Fredericks, Tay Haggarty, Ruby Donohue, Anna Whitaker, Kinly Grey and Kim Stokes, with a Welcome to Country from Aunty Erica Eurell.
Featured at At the Water’s Edge is a new work titled PISS TAKE by Brisbane-based artist Tay Haggarty, splashing, overflowing and lapping at the edge. PISS TAKE is a series of small ephemeral water fountains that play in the murky waters between sculpture and performance. As the water is pumped through, looping and pooling, the fountain failures investigate the overlapping’s of queer time, watersports and the archiving of memory.
softwash is an artist-run initiative reimagining public spaces as places of artistic collaboration and community connection, deeply in place and shared experience.
This is not your typical Saturday. This is softwash – all welcome!
