We wish you good health and happiness this Festivus season! .
As you may already know this year we are continuing the important community-based memory work which emphasizes Queensland / Australian ARIs, artist groupings and artist collectives 1970 to NOW in today’s archival multiverse. Today artist-run spaces and artist-run initiatives form part of a much broader ecology of informal and independent artist groupings, artist collectives, artist cooperatives and allied communities. A participatory, pluralising, democratising and DIY ethos is often an essential characteristic of these communities of practice. Artist-run activity helps maintain a level playing field in today’s contemporary art sector.
This expanded and expanding internet artwork presented as a ‘living archives’ cultural form continues chugging along well in 2023. During 2022-2024 we are growing and nuancing ARI REMIX with memory zines made by 40 artists. You can easily access, discover and freely download many of the completed ARI memory zines – in a collectable PDF webzine form – in the link below:
Meanwhile here is a selection of news items from 2023 along with recent examples of archival zine and zine making practice we employ to recast, remix and represent culturally diverse ARI experiences, memories, collections of artists’ ephemera and narratives in the present cultural moment.

A wee reminder for all artist and ally participants that the next soft deadline for memory zines [PDFs] comprising archival text and images is Wednesday 31 January 2024. Your zines and/or contents [between 600 – 1500 words and up to 12 to 20 JPG images 1200pixels] can be emailed to me here: info[at]ariremix.com.au
