Epicormia Collective – The Re-authoring Impulse – AXIS Wunderkammer #2 NRCG Ballina

Currently the NRCG Ballina precinct is hosting an exhibition by the Northern Rivers based integrated artist-run Epicormia Collective- The Re-authoring Impulse until December 18, 2016. The exhibition includes a ten year anniversary project by Willowbank Studios, an artist-run established by Scott Trevelyan in Alstonvale in November 2006, titled Decade of Catharsis.

The Re-authoring Impulse exhibition includes works by artist-run members Julie Barratt, Scott Trevelyan, Julianne Zoviar Clunne, Jeremy Hawkes, Paul Andrew and Marion Conrow. The project began in November 2014 and is co-ordinated by artist curator Paul Andrew. Inspired by the botanical term “epicormic” meaning new or adventitious growth from a dormant bud, or after trauma, each of the artists re-imagine or re-author everydayness, dailiness, the quotidian. For each of the artists the quotidian is equally a site of affect, flux, poetry, pain, beauty, abjection, opportunity and transformation.

Following a recent two day installation at the BARI Festival 2016, ARI Remix Project artist Paul Andrew has produced AXIS Art Projects, Does New York Exist? BNE-NYC 1988-2016, Wunderkammer #2, as a small tribute to artist collaborator Lehan Ramsay.
