OUTER SPACE OPEN DAY | ARTS WRITING 101 w/ MIRANDA HINE | WHEN: 1:00 – 2:00pm Saturday 8 October 2022

ARTS WRITING 101 w/ MIRANDA HINE ?
WHEN: 1:00 – 2:00pm Saturday 8 October 2022
WHERE: Judith Wright Arts Centre Gallery, 420 Brunswick St, Fortitude Valley
Through hands-on writing exercises and discussion, this session will help develop your approach to art writing projects. Who are you writing for? What’s the writing doing for the artwork? How can you avoid ‘art speak’ and deepen your reader’s engagement with the work? By establishing these foundations, you’ll go away with tools to get writing about your own or others’ artwork.
You’ll also hear from guest speaker Annika Strand on arts writing and accessibility. She’ll go over inclusive writing and information delivery, speaking to how some people with disabilities engage with text in a gallery context.
This workshop is suitable for:
– Artists
– Art students
– Emerging writers
– Arts workers
– Anyone who’s interested in writing about art
