The Nowhere Art Group is a new membership based artist-run-initiative on the Sunshine Coast. The Group’s manifesto sets a spontaneous, contemporary, free and tolerant direction and aims to stimulate contemporary art practice on the coast.
Nowhere encourages links and experimentation across art forms between artists, curators, researchers, technicians and fabricators. The Group was formed after the Urban Scrawl exhibition at the Caloundra Regional ArtGallery, last year. That exhibition triggered positive discussions around the potential for an artist-run collective for the Sunshine Coast.
Since then the Group has received local, state and federal government funds to develop a series of arts events to establishment the Group. The Nowhere events are designed to take place in public facilities and non-traditional venues such as multi-deck car parks, alleyways, transit centres, basketball halls and shop fronts.
