Annie MacIndoe
BIO
ABOUT
Annie Macindoe is a Brisbane-based artist who is interested in how creative practice can respond to the limitations of traditional forms of language in the representation of loss and grief. Drawing on her own experiences of loss and grief, Macindoe’s practice employs both written and visual language to construct multi-channel video installation works that present fragmented narrative forms. Macindoe’s work aims to reframe the dialogue around public and private responses to loss and grief and open up a discussion of their potential for shared, affectual, experiences through art.
In 2018, Macindoe was awarded a Master of Fine Arts (Research) at the Queensland University of Technology for her practice-led project Melancholy and the Memorial: Representing Loss, Grief and Affect in Contemporary Visual Art. Macindoe exhibited in the Hatched National Graduate Show at Perth Institute of Contemporary Art in 2016, and in 2018 was a finalist in the Churchie National Emerging Art Prize at QUT Art Museum. She is a founding co-director of CLUTCH Collective ARI, and has contributed to Boxcopy Contemporary Art Space in the role of Events Coordinator.
