The ARI REMIX COLLECTIVE 2011-NOW advocates the value of artist-led allyship across a diversity of temporalities.The value of allyship in this context, lies in actively supporting, advocating and amplifying marginalised voices, creating inclusive environments, and driving systemic change, leading to greater equity, innovation, cocreativity and belonging for everyone. Thereby affording significant benefits for individuals, artist groupings, cooperatives and collectives (safety, advancement, reciprocity, reciprocal arrangements, acknowledgement, respect, valuing and recognition) and organisations (productivity, talent retention, better and queerer-trans, First Nations and BIPOC inclusive informed decisions). It moves beyond simple diversity to ensure unrepresented and underrepresented groups feel agency, valued and empowered, fostering trust, and empathy. A pathway for unlocking the full potential of diverse perspectives, temporalities, cultural, social and ephemeral practices through consistent learning, reflection, dialogue, participation and shared responsibility.

The Power and Challenges of Allyship

Allyship is the active and consistent practice of using one’s privilege to support and advocate for marginalised groups. It involves understanding the challenges faced by these groups, amplifying their voices, and taking concrete actions to promote equality and justice. It is a continuous process of learning, listening, and taking action to challenge systemic inequalities and support those who are less privileged.
