The ongoing mapping project shares sites of women’s art practice in and around Melbourne/Naarm. The project seeks to enhance the visibility of women’s art practice, connect artists past and present, and activate physical sites of work, community, inspiration, learning, challenge and celebration. ⠀

This Is W.A.R! contains stories from our archive and beyond. The map has been generated from community contributions and volunteer research, with a focus on sites in use prior to 2000. While a number of locations have been mapped, there are many more to come and we welcome ongoing submissions, updates and feedback. Thank you to everyone who has contributed so far, we have been delighted by the response and support ?⠀
This project is supported by Creative Victoria’s Innovation in Marketing Fund.⠀

The Women’s Art Register acknowledge the people of the Kulin nation as the traditional custodians of the lands upon which these sites are located. We acknowledge their continuing connection to land, sea and community. We pay our respects to their Elders, past and present, as well as to all First Nations people.
